In this guide: A refurbished laptop can suit a budget, but condition and after-sales terms vary by device. Inspect the actual machine and get the configuration, price and warranty in writing before payment.
Verify the configuration
Check processor generation, RAM, storage capacity and screen size in system settings and BIOS where appropriate. Compare them with the invoice. Confirm whether memory or storage can be upgraded later.
Test the parts you will use
Inspect the display for lines and bright spots, test keyboard and touchpad, Wi-Fi, webcam, speakers, USB ports and charging. Check battery health and run a short unplugged test. Look for hinge damage, missing screws, liquid marks and overheating.
Get the sale terms in writing
Ask for the serial number on the invoice, included charger, return window if offered, and warranty duration and exclusions. Confirm who handles a claim and whether accidental damage is covered; ordinary repair warranty may exclude it. Keep proof of payment and the written condition report.
